HAIR & MAKEUP
We want the recital to be a stress free day and we know how much stress hair and makeup can often add to this! Please do not feel that you have to apply heavy makeup to your dancer (or any makeup at all). Should you decide to apply makeup, it should be natural and maintain their natural beauty being a child. Hair can be worn half up and half down, in a bun or a ponytail. Watch this video for some great tips and guidelines.
CHECK IN & OUT SAFETY PROTOCOL
When every parent knows what the protocols are, it helps all of our dancers stay safe! With so many little ones under the age of 10, it's a big responsibility to keep track of everyone and ensure everyone is going home with the right party: it's one we take very seriously.
Please assign one family member (preferably female) to accompany your dancer backstage. For safety reasons, only one adult per child is allowed back stage. When you check in to the recital, your dancer will be assigned a number. You will receive a wristband with a corresponding number. This is for the safety of our dancers as they travel back to the pick up area. Once dancers arrive back to the pick up area, we will let parents with WRISTBANDS ONLY in to pick up their children. We know it's exciting and everyone wants to see their dancer after the show, but it's important to have other parents and guests wait in the hallway or outside to avoid more chaos than is necessary upon pickup. Please check in with your dancer's chaperone to check them out!
TICKET SALES
Tickets will be sold online prior to the recital and on-site the day of the show for $10 for every person sitting in a seat (onsite tickets are cash only). Lap children are free! One ticket is included with your child's recital registration. This ticket is for the parent or guardian who will accompany your dancer to the holding area upon their arrival and will pick them up after the show. For safety reasons, no additional adults are allowed in the holding area. This ticket will be given to you in the form of a wristband.
BOPPERS PARENT INFO
If your child is a Bopper in this show, this info is just for you :) The key differences for the Boppers are unlike the other age groups, you will stay with your dancer during their entire recital experience. After you accompany them on stage, you are welcome to take them back into the audience to watch the rest of the show!
CARING FOR YOUR COSTUME
It is important to know how to care for your costume leading up to the show! Here are a few tips!
1. Try on your costume when you receive it! Make sure there are no sizing issues or defects. If your costume does not fit or there is a defect issue, bring it back to the studio in its original bag ASAP.
2. Do NOT have your dancer wear the tights until the weekend of the show! You don't want to wear them to class or risk tearing them before the recital.
3. If your costume has a tutu, fluff the tutu the week before the show! Pull apart layers of tulle or mesh for full fluffiness effect!
4. Tulle and mesh will likely be wrinkled from being in their storage bag. DO NOT IRON THEM AS THEY WILL MELT!!! Instead, hang it in the bathroom with the door closed while you shower and then smooth out the fabric by tugging on it slightly. You can also LIGHTLY steam if you wish!
5. Keep the costume in the garment bag provided to you as well as all needed hair accessories and tights so that nothing is lost when you need it!
COSTUME FITTING
Although we always do our best to ensure that every child's costume is ordered for the size that they measure to be, there is always a chance that a particular style can run big or small. Not every costume is going to fit like a glove and a safety pin may be needed here or there or a strap might need to be shortened. However, if you feel there is a MAJOR difference in the way that your child's costume fits, and the way it SHOULD fit, please return your costume to the studio in its original bag so we can replace it.
RECITAL VIDEO
A digital download of the video of the recital is included in your recital registration package! We will aim to have the video released no later than four weeks after the show via email. The video files are password protected, but you can feel free to download the videos and share with family and friends. Videos will be available for a month past the release date for access. After the deadline has passed, the videos will be removed - access past this deadline will result in additional fees.
BACKSTAGE ACTIVITIES
Once checking your child in on the day of the recital, they'll experience a ton of fun activities backstage! We have activity stations on their path to the big stage! The entire time they'll be supervised by our event team who will work to ensure that dancers are both staying safe and having fun! Our event staff is trained to handle any before show butterflies or nervousness that might arise. We encourage you to get your dancer settled and then find a seat in the audience to enjoy the show. Examples of stations they'll experience are: bean bag toss game, Simon Says, coloring, story time, practicing their bows and much more!
